Protophobic force
WebbarXiv.org e-Print archive Webb16 aug. 2016 · The UCI work demonstrates that instead of being a dark photon, the particle may be a “protophobic X boson.” While the normal electric force acts on electrons and protons, this newfound boson interacts only with electrons and neutrons — and at an extremely limited range.

Webb21 okt. 2016 · A fifth fundamental force of nature could soon be added to the four known forces of the universe: gravity, electromagnetism, strong, and weak nuclear forces. Physicists have detected a protophobic boson that could result in a fifth fundamental force of nature (O’Connell). Although this theory is speculative, the discovery of a fifth force … Webb1 sep. 2024 · 1. Introduction. There has been growing interest in the particle physics community in the possibility of new, light gauge bosons. In the mass range of 1 MeV/c 2 –1 GeV/c 2, the motivation for these particles comes through the generic assumption of a force-carrying particle associated with dark matter (which would be roughly analogous …
Webb25 apr. 2016 · The X boson mediates a fifth force with a characteristic range of 12 fm and has millicharged couplings to up and down quarks and electrons, and a proton coupling that is suppressed relative to neutrons.
