Web19 jun. 2024 · I can reach under, grasp a blade and wiggle the stump jumper up and down. I crawled under and the stump jumper is well upon the splined shaft. The cotter key is still holding the nut on the shaft. Sounds like your splines are getting messed up and worn creating the play in it. Is the nut tight ? OP B Bright Raven Well-known member Joined Web12 jul. 2015 · Note to Bush Hog- if you are going to weld the stump jumper to the blade arms maybe some provision for a gear puller would be helpful. It might have prevented me from screwing up the end of the shaft (had the nut on but when I removed the nut some metal galled the threads. It isn't fatal to the shaft but will require a bit of clean up.)
